The Cheesborough Carceral Collections®Institutional purpose / archival record

Memory as historical evidence.

We preserve the testimonies, documents, and arguments through which the history of incarceration can be studied and made publicly available.

An open civic archive

The Cheesborough Carceral Collections brings together legal records, oral histories, photographs, and research materials for students, advocates, families, and public history audiences.

Our work emphasizes careful stewardship, transparent description, and public access. Each collection is presented as evidence requiring context and close reading.
